What did I do?

For my core project I learned how to play the entire album “Your City Gave Me Asthma” by Wilbur Soot on my guitar. The album is fairly short, coming in at 7 songs, which made it an achievable goal to learn within the time allotted to us for working on our core projects. Then, I made this lil’ webpage for the presentation element of my core project. This consists of a little home menu, where you can choose to go to either the project or bonus songs; the project page consisting of some sample songs from the album, and the bonus page being some other covers and demos made throughout the project’s duration.

How did I do it?

Well first I found tabs online for the songs I already knew some or all of in order to refresh my memory of how to play them; after this I started work on learning the songs I had no idea how to play. I pretty much learned them in order after I learned my favourites. My absolute favourite is “Since I Saw Vienna”, it is the entire reason I started learning to play guitar a couple years ago and so finalising my learning of it is an important step in my “journey” or whatever. For the web page I created it from scratch (pure html and css files) and used a hosting service for the hosting (of said html and css files). For embedding the music and video I used an outside hosting service called filegarden, and the html5 audio tag (we love the html5 audio tag). I made multiple pages and a bunch of custom css animations for the moving stuff (animated text is gif format from a cool website I found for animating text (I didn’t animate those)). For making the chiptune songs on the bonus page I used an old-school soundtracker (available in-browser) called beepbox (shoutout Brandon for showing me that).

Why did I do it?

Cos I needed to do something for my core project, right? Also the title (your core project gave me asthma lol) is funny, isn't it?
